Definitely more concerned about the living people than the dead ones I might come across there. Though I respect their place of rest, it is full of life. Almost every tree there is meticulously labeled to appreciate what kind it is.

Young adult educational eBook | A Seahorse Tale – A Spin on the Matter of Motion

I believe this eBook will build enthusiasm and intrigue for multiple subjects, It is a science reference book, cloaked in a science fantasy adventure; replete with real science and resplendent illustrations; with graphs, charts and links for further investigation.

A Seahorse Tale – A Spin on the Matter of Motion

Young adult educational eBook for public, private, magnet, charter, cyber, home-schools, autism spectrum, experiential and expeditionary learning.

Here’s the trailer: https://spinonmatter.carbonmade.com/projects/4800092

I just decided to post this letter of introduction which I’m sending to Charter Schools, to each of my blogs, since perhaps someone who’s involved in education, eBook marketing and publishing, with an affiliation with Charter Schools or knows-how in marketing an educational eBook, to provide me with advice or send someone my way!

It’s not finished, but I thought I’d start with the back-end, or front-end, getting it out there.

…I’m looking for the appropriate person/department (academic materials, material acquisition) to market my eBook, which I believe will be of interest to students as an auxiliary learning tool.

A Seahorse Tale – A Spin on the Matter of Motion

Seahorse, spiraling, drawing, creativity, dreams, em field, electromagnetism, young adult textbook, educational ebook, A Seahorse Tale - A Spin on the Matter of Motion

“A Seahorse Tale – A Spin on the Matter of Motion” is a young adult educational eBook. Predominantly a physics textbook within a science fantasy tale; it depicts the spiraling nature of our universe in general and electromagnetism, in particular.

This science fantasy adventure involves a spiritual quest (no religious affiliation), full of art and science. The adventure involves the quest of a young woman and the characters she meets in her journey, into an upside-down world. Not really upside down, but a place affected by electromagnetism that has lower gravity levels as one climbs to this place. The people there, where the main character is journeying to, have a correspondingly intrinsic capacity of transparent thought. They are conscious of each others’ thoughts and consequently incapable of telling lies. Yet most of the story takes place as Adora journeys there – as there could be sequels!

Frankly, as of June 1st (almost two weeks since posting this), after editing and moving around information as well as researching and editing bibliography sources, the information below has been updated, and still is no longer current! Nevertheless, you get the gist of the contents! I’ve been working hard within a strict time limit – a really good thing.

Here are the first two pages of the Table of Contents (subject to change) but giving you a gist of the contents.

HERE IS THE UPDATED REARRANGEMENT OF CONTENT AND PAGES, REFLECTED IN THE 2020 VERSION OF THE FIRST PAGE OF THE TOC

2nd page Table of Contents

The approximately 150 page eBook (Completion end of June, 2017), is designed to be read from beginning to end, or to be read in segments. Almost every page introduces a particular subject; including graphs, charts and links to further investigation of that topic. The online Table of Contents and Bibliography allow the reader to choose from various educational subjects, ranging from biology, climatology, and geography to physics, These scientific topics of inquiry are introduced as they arise in the story; with the inference that these hypothetical events in a fantastical environment, could actually transpire.

Here are a few pages of the bibliography, also subject to change. I’m using google docs in order to also alphabetize the bibliography by subject.

Adora & Vitali: A Spin on the Matter of Motion has a plethora of art accompanying the science links, providing the reader with the capability to further investigate a topic. It is a colorful and refreshing learning tool for students and adults. The eBook is a stepping stone of intrigue for subsequent exploration into a multitude of scientific topics.

I've been living temporarily adjacent to a lovely home, off Hyde Park Rd, 1,000 feet in altitude above Santa Fe, New Mexico. A hefty commute, by bicycle. I was accompanied by my companion while I've lived up here above Santa Fe, a Husky/Akita mix named Luna. The most gentle dog, yet barked several bear cubs up trees! I've walked crossing into the national park from the cabin I've been a guest living in. Luna and I saw a mother bear and her cub again today! I saw one with the dog a week ago, a different mother bear that was larger and with more brown, and two smaller cubs.

Worth Taking Your Time to Breath In All of This Message | Mother Earth

Earth Upworthy, Home

Our Earth, Our Home

I happened to look at this eloquent short video by Bitthu Sahgal brought to us through Upworthy. It brought tears to my eyes. Densely populated with images and edited so articulately that the message is profound. It is a testimony to our home, the earth, which humans share with all of its creatures. Our earth, our mother, is hurting, from what we humans have been doing. Human beings have the unique capacity to grasp this information, understand its implications and do something about it, before it is too late.

If you are aware of any groups or individuals who may wish to listen to my intentions and help me to reach them, please help to guide me and put me together with those who may wish to financially help me reach these goals. My intentions are to continue to write, photograph, illustrate, compose music and basically communicate in order to educate the public about social injustice, raising peoples’ awareness about what they can do to have a lighter environmental footprint, advocating for animals through writing and producing music that gives a voice to creatures whose time is limited due to habitat loss and poaching as well as completing the writing of my interactive eBook which is geared as a multi-lingual educational tool involving a great deal of scientific discovery, for which I will compose music for a soundtrack. It all takes time, and it’s worth it. I’ll be happy to join a group full-time who are involved in projects of this sort as well.

My first intention was to blog this announcement: I must shift from merely writing blogs to gaining income through submitting articles to publications, and subsequently linking these to my blogs. It will be a much more convoluted process; taking the time and effort to research first what publications may want to print the information I write, and then after sending the query, waiting to hear from them. I have little choice, since I have no income whatsoever.

An article I will write promptly, is a social anthropological one. It came from a conversation that I had last evening, in which i was bringing up parallel points that are all cases involving increased community, at the cost of less freedom. The examples tied together are through people I have known who have delivered their first-hand observations of communities in which they lived. Hopefully, you will get to read this if one of the publications or internet magazine sites that I send the query to opt to print it.

A letter to my Mother | Berlin sights | Festival of Lights

Hello Mother and Daddy – I know my recently deceased father is present –

I’ve started writing you a letter, that has evolved into a blog. I’ll send it now, and work on the blog. This is a multi dimensional letter that covers a lot of info, that should keep you busy for a while!! I will try skyping you when i get home in the evening. As now, I have internet 24/7 in my room. I decided to send it to siblings as well, in case they feel like reading it.

First, I moved to a new place on Monday. It was a reaction to the former place. I felt that some of the people were not only unfriendly, but becoming hostile. So, I sent out the word to friends here in Berlin (using the internet of course) and within the same day I had responses. Some responded to my S.O.S. about abruptly needing to replace my power adapter for my Mac. Another responded to my realization that if in fact, as I pretty much blatantly sensed was true, someone had tampered with/exchanged my adapter for their faulty one, it might be a pretty good idea to get out of there as quickly as physically possible. I did – later that evening – realizing that it would NOT be in my best interest to stay there even one more night.

Jah of York collective Euromerican

Jah of York collective Euromerican

Jay is an American male friend of mine, who is a singer born and raised in NYC, who has created a band and is working hard on putting his music out there. Jay, also calls himself Jah, short for his real name Jaheed, is a singer just like my friend Saudia, who is also here in Berlin, born and raised in NYC, and making her mark with her music. Both of them have African American roots, both of them came to my rescue. Jah, with the housing, Saudia with the adapter. I met Jah at the bearpit karaoke in Mauerpark in 2010, when i approached him among the entire crowd of people, and asked if he wanted to sing a male part of the song I was about to go onto the stage and sing. We’ve been continuously in touch with each other ever since. He has put together a band and put on a lot of performances, as well as starting an ‘open stage/ open mic’ jam session at a bar in one neighborhood here. He’s a very solid guy, very kind, positive and spiritual. An uplifting person to be around. In the meantime, Saudia has saved the day not only with forwarding me information about work, insights on how to stabilize here in Berlin, and she’s also a bright, spirited person who is uplifting with her humor and hard working. She and I met when we were each peripherally involved in an English speaking play several years ago. We’ve remained in touch when each have bounced back and forth from the USA. She recently absolutely ‘saved the day’ by having an extra Mac adapter cable, which tend to be constructed to ‘deconstruct’ within a certain time frame. (I’m thinking of gathering names/people who have also had this particular Powerbook power adapter cable problem (the tiny cable severing itself) to start another ‘class action law suit against Apple’ to impel them to replace these cheaply made gadgets that are expensive and proprietary to the point that these are irrevocably necessary in order to turn your machine on! Saudia not only sings, but also recently relaunched her accessories line Rose&Young (earrings, necklaces, makeup bags, cuffs, iPhone bags, eyeglass cases and custom orders). The main materials are leather and wool felt. She’s another pleasant optimistic and talented friend to have.

Saudia Young - Dark Kabaret

Saudia Young – Dark Kabaret

The circumstances is that I mentioned that I would prefer to immediately leave my place, and he responded by email, you can stay at my place. He also offered to help me move. I went to his place, parked my bicycle among the others in his courtyard. We chatted for a while, then went together on the train and moved my stuff out in one trip. He had just applied for a job as a camp counselor for a YMCA camp in Spain, and received notice the day before that he could take it. It is not permanent, but the timing was perfect.

As we were heading back on the move, he received an anticipated call, and this guy backed out, declined staying at his place. That left his apt open, with no one set up to move in. I had already gotten cash out of the bank and hadn’t paid the last people because the main renter (grumpy father there) was on a vacation. Because of the increasing hostility there, I withheld my rent (unconsciously and consciously), though I had gotten it out of the bank and was waiting to pay the main guy once he returned from his vacation. I was therefore able to offer Jay cash for the rest of this month (including the fact that he helped me move and was generous with his time and welcoming nature).

I now do not have to ‘watch my back’ and worry about my stuff. Jay left with his band to perform several concerts in Amsterdam over the next 5 days, will be back for 2 days, and his bags are already packed for Spain till the end of November. The place is perfect. Centrally located, handsome and clean flat. He has wireless internet and it is literally in exactly the neighborhood I’ve decided that I prefer. It is within a block of where Saudia just moved.

I just came across this article in the New York Times and am sharing it with you, because it encapsulates why Berlin has become such an attractive place for artists and musicians in the last years. Here’s the article!

It provokes me to want to work hard and be as inventive and flexible as possible, to stay here, at least for a while. Not just run away, but take on the challenge of finding income and making this opportunity. Here’s the article, simply single or double click on it. Then I have several additional links that you can click on if you want, regarding some of the people mentioned in the article, that I looked up and wanted to read about.

This is the beauty of the internet. The fact that the source of information doesn’t stop with that page, but can keep on expanding, as you can always use a search engine like ‘google’, to look up an additional topic, person’s name, place, etc.
For example, in the article, the writer mentioned these other names with whom I wasn’t familiar, so I googled them:

Below, I’m sending a link of this conference that I’m going to today, with a new American acquaintance, David, whom I met shortly after I arrived here at this ‘open house’ of the Kompakt music label together with Ableton who produce the music composing/performing software I’ve been using. David and I had an immediate connection because of the fact that I had created some songs incorporating whale and dolphin calls, and he has already literally recorded whale calls sitting on boats, and made recordings of whales, bird songs and cicadas, among other insects and recordings.

He’s also written books on the topics and has already given me some solid critical advice and direction as to the writing of my book. I have finally made the time to hang out with him and join him am looking forward to it. His work is described in his website. http://davidrothenberg.wordpress.com Here’s the link, in German, to the conference I’ve attended for the last two days. http://gs.udk-berlin.de/graduiertenschule-der-udk-berlin/graduale-13/
Forget about trying to read it, it’s in German and I couldn’t find the English, but the program is English. It’s put on by the ‘University of Arts’ in Berlin, and the topic is
PERCEPTION, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIMENT AND KNOWLEDGE Objectivity and Subjectivity in the Arts and Sciences.

We will go to the exhibition of this first day.

Yesterday, I bicycled to this office I remembered from years ago where they give advice to foreigners (from everywhere) who are trying to immigrate/relocate to Germany. I remembered the address, looked it up on the internet, found the address, and went there after hours, just to see if indeed the place is still there, and if they have their office hours printed on the door. The place was open, and indeed they still exist. I’m delighted, I’ll go there prior to going to the VISA office, so that I know ahead of time all the prerequisites, the right angle to approach the governmental office.

Sony Center cyberpunk corporate urban center

Sony Center cyberpunk corporate urban center

On the way back, I decided to swing by the Sony center, an elaborate architectural structure that draws a phenomenal amount of tourists. Above is a wikipedia link that not only shows pictures of this extravagant building and how it looks when it’s glowing in the evening, but also the history of what was there, a thriving community in the center of Berlin, before it was all bombed and leveled. Sony Center Berlin

When I arrived in Berlin in 1995 the first time, this whole area was just a vast field of nothing, then eventually a huge gaping hole when the building construction had not yet begun. There were also eventually, literally hundreds of cranes there, so that around Christmas time, many of these were decorated with Christmas lights!

It is also next to this memorial to the Jewish people who died because of the Nazi regime

It’s not far from all of the new government buildings that were constructed when the German government decided to relocate back to Berlin, from Bonn, in the West.

Government building Berlin, GermanyThey literally had to build all of the buildings, along this canal, near the Haupt Bahn Hof/Main Train Station. Here is a link that provides you with a bunch of pictures of all of these new and old remaining government buildings Berlin. government_buildings_berlin

What happened yesterday after I bicycled by this office in the late afternoon to make sure it’s still physically there, is I decided to swing back through the Sony Center, always swarming with tourists and illuminated by lights that change colors. Then as I was about to head home, I saw this unusually large crowd of people, naturally wandered over, then saw people straining to here some musicians. I made my way in a bit, and leaned over to ask these two young Indian guys if they knew what was going on, and in English, they answered back that they live right around the corner, and that this is the opening ceremony (about to begin) of Berlin’s annual “Festival of Lights”, which will be continuing until the 20th of October. http://festival-of-lights.de/en/

Berlin Fesitval of Lights 2013

Berlin Fesitval of Lights 2013

That was only the beginning of my evening. I wound up bantering back and forth with these two, then going to park my bike at a post to get it out of the crowd and returned to them. We wound up talking for the next 6 hours. I’m going to write a blog about it, because i gathered an astounding amount of information. Both articulate, between active listening and contributing to all sorts of topics, the two of them expounded a great deal of information. One, Kuldeep (the talkative/business marketing oriented one) nicknamed ‘Sunny’, a diplomats son who was raised until 12th grade in Tokyo. He attended the schools of the Indian embassy there, then studied at a university in India (to get closer to his roots) and later worked for Deloitte, a consulting firm in New York city. However, not satisfied with having an abundance of wealth, he left this high paying job to travel on his own and rediscover his spiritual routes. Having then a deeper sense of what his priorities in life, he is now studying together with his friend at the same University and program. The Technical University of Berlin offers a program on Entrepreneurial Business together with computer technical training. The other, Vaibhav (more technically oriented and quiet, yet just as ready to offer pertinent information) nicknamed ‘Web’ is from Goa, India. He attended a technical university there, and now is also here in Berlin. The two of them met at a technical trade show in Canada a few years ago. We had such a resonance and rapport, that they invited me to join them for dinner at their student housing apartment just a few hundred yards away. Sunny cooked, and was extremely articulate. He speaks excellent English, Japanese, Hindi, in addition to several other Indian dialects. Vaibhav pronounced ‘Vibow’ brought up several TED talks, one echoing the subject of happiness that I mentioned I had blogged about.

http://www.ted.com/talks/michael_norton_how_to_buy_happiness.html

And another ‘TED talk’ presentation on robotics, given by an Indian man, Vijay Kumar, who is preeminent in the electronics industry.

This man was formerly a professor at University of Pennsylvania. (Vibow loves Philadelphia and wanted more than anything to attend this school, where Daddy and you met). Vijay Kumar has since been consulting with Barack Obama to council him on (probably the more weapons side) of robotics.

The White House hosted a Robotics hangout, ‘The Hangout’ will be moderated by Vijay Kumar, assistant director for robotics and cyberphysical systems,
http://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/artificial-intelligence/white-house-to-host-robotics-hangout-on-friday

Vibow is very interested in robotics, and designs apps particularly for robotic hardware. Yeah, these two are exceedingly brilliant and very open to ideas, full of life and energy. I learned so much that I haven’t even begun to notate all that the two of them communicated to me, in terms of culture, business, marketing, language, Indian culture…. It all started because I stopped by this Apple repair one-man-business Freakin’ Mac Store whom I knew by word-of-mouth, and was a customer of for several years.

Sunny said that among the patents created by start-ups in Silicon Valley, CA between 2006 and 2013, 36% were created by Indians. (I may be misquoting this figure). In the last decades, their country devoted a massive amount of educational infrastructure to the computer/electronics industry, and now they are cranking out brilliant and excellence students, in a very competitive intellectual environment.

okay, i have to get ready to go out now.

The Science of Happiness – An Experiment in Gratitude | SoulPancake | Upworthy: Things that Matter

Since I’ve been blogging about happiness a number of times and then had the surprise and delight while living back in the United States to attend these college courses for several semesters at Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania – a consortium on the subject of “Happiness” – I’m very happy to share this with all of you. I’m really starting to like upworthy.com the more I receive the postings. This particular video made me cry, bringing tears of gratitude, to realize what is truly important in life. ‘-)

Soul Pancake is, in their words, a brain batter of art, culture, science, philosophy, spirituality and humor.

SoulPancake is, in their words, a brain batter of art, culture, science, philosophy, spirituality and humor.

According to this SoulPancake production, scientists have discovered that one of the overwhelming indicators of how happy you are in your life, is how much gratitude you show.

They did an experiment, and encourage you to do the same.

The experiment, conducted by SoulPancake, can be watched in this short video on the ‘Science of Happiness – An Experiment in Gratitude’, presented by upworthy.

I’ll have to test it out too! As the saying goes, we can’t choose our family or genetics, but we can choose what kinds of people we associate with and our ‘responses’ to situations. I choose to be around people who have tolerance, respect and gratitude along with sharing humor and joy in life. ‘-) Feeling self worth and recognizing one’s value, can be disfigured, if you hang around people who constantly criticize, or for that matter, completely ignore you. Listening to one’s intuition is very important, in terms of moving towards or staying away from people, in terms of how they respond to you. Ultimately, tuning in to what makes you happy and what you love to do most, reflects those things you do best, and the path that you should be following. Often what is truly worthwhile, what has value in life, are the simple things. It has little to do with material acquisitions or wealth, and everything to do with how much one appreciates the little things and how one navigates through the little decisions and circumstances. As a single female, I recently encountered a scenario in which I began sharing company with someone who I felt did not value my presence or company. Fortunately, the ‘red flags’ went up. I can’t be happier to go in the opposite direction, and enjoy being. Enjoy!

Earlier in the year, before even concretely making the decision to return to Berlin, I was also blogging about the Science of Happiness https://carolkeiter.wordpress.com/2013/05/07/tools-for-decision-making-freewill-astrology-the-science-of-happiness/

The blog links to the Futurist, featuring two articles having to do with the subject of happiness. One written by two psychologists, David G. Myers and Ed Diener on the “Science of Happiness”. The second is about Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s concept of the “flow” theory of happiness, in which he hones into the connection between creativity and happiness.

Following are two poignant quotes by Albert Einstein:

Imagination is more important than knowledge.”

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”

Think about it and well, feel and digest what he means!

Annie Leonard’s story of Too Much Stuff – back at you again!

I wrote on my very first blog of my wordpress digesthis site
Could be that we Really do have ! Too much Stuff !” In it, I included a link of a George Carlin comedy skit as well as an early version of Annie Leonard’s film. It just came back to me, through subscribing to UTNE READER, and here’s the official story of stuff that Annie created, three years later, coming to my attention. Announcement of my soon to be released eBook

I intend to release my first book around the summer solstice, June 21st.

“Adora & Vitali: A Spin on the Matter of Motion”

Due to having not a ‘low’, but ‘no’ budget ‘-) I’ll produce an eBook prior to the first print edition. Besides writing, illustrating and composing music for the digital version, I’m publishing and marketing it too; using iBook Author, Smashwords as well as (kdp) Kindle of Amazon, so that it can be read on whatever platform or device the reader prefers. I’ll also do a voice-over for an audio-book version. The print will be POD ‘print on demand’ for starters. It’s all new terrain and the whole process is a learning experience, about which I’ll be happy to share any information!

Below is an ‘inside/back cover’ summary about what the book entails! I’m open to any suggestions, yet particularly I’d love to hear about any venues (book stores/cafes in your area) which you recommend for me to contact to set up ‘readings’. Once I schedule dates at various locations, I’ll map out a tour. I’m always up for traveling and talking with people! From early on, I anticipated creating versions in French, Spanish and German, especially on the digital platform. This would give the reader the option to read the same content in another language as a learning tool. I’m conversant in these and love learning languages. Since I’m not fluent, I’ll naturally need editors who are native speakers. adoras_path_satellite_revised_2_10_13
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
“Adora & Vitali: A Spin on the Matter of Motion” is a spiritual quest imbued with scientific concepts. It is woven throughout with parcels of information relevant to the phenomena that emerge in the story itself. It is specifically designed to inspire curiosity and evoke within the reader the desire to learn more about the fascinating nature of our universe.

A children’s book for adults or classroom textbook embedded within a tale, it has approximately 80 illustrations throughout (black & white as well as color): from scientific diagrams and charts to character and fantasy images. Interwoven throughout are about 120 (and counting) active links; a ‘live’ bibliography that not only substantiates the facts but gives the reader a means to explore in more depth each of the subjects covered.

The tale involves a young woman named Adora, who after learning of a place which enchants her because of its mysterious qualities, decides to journey there. The place not only has almost no gravity, which is extraordinary in itself, but the people residing there have exceptional qualities of mind and spirt. None are capable of lying – they are sentient beings able to telepathically read each others’ minds. A utopian, transparent world, where only truth and honesty exist; in which intentions are transmitted through love. To reach her destination, she is instructed to follow the magnetic lines. The book is a journey to this place with its supernatural characteristics, distilled with information revealing how this theoretically ‘could’ occur. For example, successive natural phenomena were triggered as a result of accelerated global warming.

Besides reading the book sequentially, it is designed as a reference tool in which one can jump from one topic to another; each covered on its unique page. The book is geared for curious readers from adolescent on; for students, science or science fantasy enthusiasts, or those curious about spirituality and consciousness. Generally, those intrigued with adventures into the unknown. Besides being a tale infused with symbolism and mystery (“Adora” means “love” and “Vitali” means “life”), it is a multimedia ‘expeditionary learning platform’, which peers into the phenomena of nature from the microscopic world of subatomic physics to the cosmic, including a smorgasbord of other topics from biology, to geology, chemistry and more, displaying how extraordinary ‘our’ world is. As the title suggests, among other phenomena in the natural world, the book strives to build an appreciation and understanding of the integral role that electromagnetism plays in all of life as well as the communication of love.

Crowd-source Funding | Kickstarter for Book | Adora & Vitalis |

I was informed about the crowd-source funding site “kickstarter” by my sister. I submitted my proposal towards the completion of the book that I’ve been researching and writing, and was accepted days ago, and as of today, October 31st, Halloween, I’m launching it to be completed by December 28th, 2012.

In the last weeks, I sent out submissions to a dozen magazines regarding several articles I’m intent on writing. I have for the most part written the articles, and condensed each into a query. Until I receive responses confirming whether or not anyone would like to print the subject matter, both on the political/economic threshold, I can not release the information to the public in my blogs.

I wait, to be paid for a change. In the meantime, I’ve shifted into high gear, to finish a book which I’ve been dreaming up for a while now. Since kickstarter accepted it, I launch my project Halloween, October 31st – asking for help from anyone and everyone – to finance my time towards completing the book. I still need a publisher, and figure that I’ll print copies of the book ‘on demand’, if no publisher takes it on. I continue with my research, writing and illustration of the book, regarding how I imagine the world ‘could’ be, instead of lamenting about how I see that it is (as you may have read from my various blogs about environmental, political and economic facts).

Here’s my project http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/941886838/adora-and-vitalis

I look forward to working towards its completion by December 28th, days after my birthday and prior to the end of this year, as I’ve designated as the 60 day period from when I submitted it. I so much enjoy writing, drawing and making music (which I’ll be doing for the e-book version !-)

salut! to your health!

Carol
