Faber-Castell Watercolor Eastern Hemlock vor Sugar Maple

These Eastern Hemlock leaves dangling before a Sugar Maple was done with Faber-Castell watercolor pencils in two sittings – sketching it out and adding water the first day, then adding some more texture and dimension today, September 30th, 2018 in Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Rhode Island.

Japanese Garden & The Bridge | 2 Versions | Faber Castell Watercolor Progression | Providence, RI

I realized months later that I wish to reveal each of these paintings from the same view, separately, as the singular processes that each were.

When I returned to complete this one, I merely added some last details for shadows.

I decided right away to start a new one

By the time I finished this one, I decided to never sit there for a painting again. It was really close to the carousal, and the music of the carousal remained in my head – after sitting there this second 5 hours or so – later into the evening.

Faber Castell Water Color Pencil paintings Santa Fe area November & December

Here are the several water colors I’ve had time to create in these last two months, here in the Santa Fe National Forest and also at Tent Rocks, in New Mexico

I’ve been taking shots of them as they develop to show the progression

showing the progression - especially in the last series of seven sketches, and final water color painting, which I did on the site the next day in each case. I use Faber Castell colored pencils. I've been living temporarily adjacent to a lovely home, off Hyde Park Rd, 1,000 feet in altitude above Santa Fe, New Mexico. A hefty commute, by bicycle. I was accompanied by my companion while I've lived up here above Santa Fe, a Husky/Akita mix named Luna. The most gentle dog, yet barked several bear cubs up trees! I've walked crossing into the national park from the cabin I've been a guest living in. Luna and I saw a mother bear and her cub again today! I saw one with the dog a week ago, a different mother bear that was larger and with more brown, and two smaller cubs.
