Reverence for Nature > Let Indigenous people Guide

If this is in fact true, it is fantastic to hear!

There is the concept of God, which is man made, like drilling for oil to fuel man’s cars and desire for immediate gratification….and then there are actual creatures, you know, elk, caribou, whales, frogs…which are living beings on this planet, whose homes are territories which humans continue to encroach upon and destroy. The earth is a sacred, life giving place and these creatures are sacred and spectacular. We humans should switcheroo, dramatically change the way we look at our earth and its creatures, to pray and honor these, instead of Nike shoes and iPhones. If it takes ingesting psychedelics to instigate this change of perspective for humans to actually see and realize the value of protecting the earth and the natural world, then let the psilocybin ceremonies and sacred congregations begin. God is not ‘up there’ or ‘out there’, DOG is GOD, our earth and all of the living systems intertwined, rivers, air, soil, insects, worms…are ALL SACRED. Let’s learn from Indigenous people and allow them to guide us, and stop paying homage to men in business suits who wear ties. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/06/climate/biden-drilling-alaska-wildlife-refuge.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20230907

GREEN – film by Patrick Rouxel – Filmmaker for environmental conservation. His films are about giving a voice to the rainforest and the victims of deforestation.

“Her name is Green, she is alone in a world that doesn’t belong to her. She is a female orangutan, victim of deforestation and resource exploitation. This film is an emotional journey with Green’s final days. It is a visual ride presenting the treasures of rainforest biodiversity in Indonesia and the devastating impacts of logging and land clearing for the palm oil plantations and the pulp and paper industry.“

Patrick Rouxel writes on his website.

My films are about giving a voice to the rainforest and the victims of deforestation. They are both a tribute to the beauty of the rainforest and its wildlife, and a means of raising awareness of the suffering and loss inflicted by human development, corporate greed and consumerism.

I am driven by empathy and consider my films an act of citizenship, like a drop of water to help extinguish the blazing fires of destruction around the world. I make my films independently, free of all political, religious or commercial interest. I try to trigger change in our consumer choices and the way we behave toward animals and nature.

My films are either commissioned by environmental NGOs or self-produced, they are made possible thanks to the help of friends. They are copyright free for home viewing and non-commercial public screenings. They are available for free streaming on my website.”

The Animals’ Lawsuit Against Humanity: An Illustrated 10th Century Iraqi Ecological Fable

Rather than continuing with our current trend of the last centuries of anthropocentrism, as we learn that health, happiness and quality of life is woven into the fabric of health and quality for all networks of life on our planet, we can embrace this work and regard our behavior from the point of view of one of our fellow earthlings.

Fabulous that more than 2,000 years ago, humans had the foresight, love and empathy to consider the right to a good quality of life for all sentient beings.

The Animals’ Lawsuit Against Humanity: An Illustrated 10th Century Iraqi Ecological Fable Paperback – Illustrated, April 1, 2005

by Ikhwan al-Safa (Author), Rabbi Dan Bridge (Author), Rabbi Kalonymus (Author), Umm Kulthum (Illustrator), Rabbi Anson Laytner (Translator), Seyyed Hossein Nasr (Introduction)

“In this interfaith and multicultural fable, eloquent representatives of all members of the animal kingdom – from horses to bees – come before the respected Spirit King to complain of the dreadful treatment they have suffered at the hands of humankind. During the ensuing trial, where both humans and animals testify before the King, both sides argue their points ingeniously, deftly illustrating the validity of both sides of the ecology debate. The ancient antecedents of this tale are thought to have originated in India, with the first written version penned in Arabic sometime before the 10th century in what is now Iraq. Much later, this version of the story was translated into Hebrew in 14th century France and was popular in European Jewish communities into the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This exquisite English translation, illustrated with 12 original color illumination plates, is useful in introducing young and old alike to environmental and animal rights issues.”
